Hey everyone!

I'm selfishly starting a new thread about my run tonight cuz it was so unique and exciting for me...

I ran with Duran, the consultant from Philly, here in town for a couple months. We did 8.5 miles in 69 minutes...which breaks down to about 8:07 a mile. My usual pace on runs is about 8:30-9 so I was really pushing. We ran the last mile at 7:32 and I swear I thought my legs were going to just fall off completely!! Which would've sucked, cuz how would I golf?

But it was excellent motivation and he taught me a couple things. He's in a running club in Philly and is able to run with some top runners in the area...and it showed. It was so effortless...his form, as if he were just floating along beside me.

Well, at the 5 mile mark he put his arms down and just let kinda let them dangle as he ran along. It looked so natural. I asked him why and he told me he was 'resting' a bit. Well, I tried it but no-go for me. Duran told me that you have to really establish your running rhythm first before you do it...any comments on this?

He's tapering off this week for the 1/2 marathon in Philly on Saturday so he was nice enough to stay at my pace...for a while. Well, at the 6.5 mark he took off on me but I managed to stay within about 20 yards of him...

We finished with a high-five Wink and we're gonna meet at the Ymca tomorrow for a Team in Training meeting and a short run afterwards.

All in all it was a great run (PR in length/time), and I got myself a running partner for the next 2 1/2 months!

yeehaw!!!

Cool Joel sounds like a real nice guy. He is most likely running the Philadelphia Distance Run, which is Sunday. Nice running with a partner.

Uh oh, Paul. This cannot be good for our chances to whip Joel's butt in Mayville! Maybe instead of running, I'll just sing backup for Liquid Crush...

Congrats, Joel. That's some impressive running!

Wow! That's so cool, Joel!

Good run, and you made a new friend, too.

You know you get bonus points if you get him to log onto Riff Raff, right?

How do you feel today?

i think joel did not mention riff raff because the dude would be a member of the posse
and since he was a better runner i think joel was scared to invite him in

Oh, I told him about Riff Raff...but he didn't seem to grasp the concept of an online club...so I dropped it and asked him if he liked pizza.

No more doggin' it. Now we know what's in those legs, mid-7s to low-8s, 'kay!?
...to race with the big dogs, you gotta train like one; looking forward to good run reports Smile
