Posted: 06/25/03 - 16:09 Post subject: My resignation
I've whined to some of you via PM about a certain situation that I've gotten myself in to. I'm letting the rest of you in on it now.
I'm doing a web site for a local Atlanta company (it's only one guy) and on the surface, it seemed like a quick and easy job. He already had all of the text written up and forms done and he didn't want any graphics. I told him I could get it done in a few days and agreed to give him a discounted rate since it would be such an easy job.
That was about 2 months ago. This guy has only the most basic understanding of the internet and he's supah nit-picky about things. So nit-picky that he's driven me to give up on his project. I've got too much stress at home to have to worry about his site.
I'm going to send him a resignation e-mail and a bill for the work I've done so far. When he pays me, I'll e-mail him the files to his web site.
I'm relieved that I won't have to deal with the hour long phone calls every evening yet strangely saddened that I've had to quit a job.

That sucks that you have to give up on the job, but I totally understand why.

Based on what you told me before, I'm surprised you stuck it out as long as you did. Good decision.

Sounds like you've put up with more than you needed to with this job. Good for you to give him the boot.
I guess my PM's were lost in the virtual mail.

Great! Now you'll have time for my requests! Can you make the Emoticon box just a bit wider? And can you move that subject line 1/8 inch to the right?
Also, that 'R' in running forums could use some spice...
joel
But seriously, you tried and tried and tried...it just isn't worth it anymore.

Contract work can be like printing money, but you also have to recognize a black hole when you see it and cut and run.
