On Monday, I saw an older volunteer who helped serve breakfast to the families. I noticed Airborne "jump wings" on his hat.
When I inquired as to if he was in Airborne, he said he was in the 101st/501 PIR in WWII with 4 combat jumps and 27 other jumps. He was highly decorated and wounded a few times.

To anyone here who has seen "Band of Brothers" he served with the same unit and saw the same action as they did.

It was quite awesome to talk to someone from a unit I greatly admire.
JJ and Hannah met him too and he let them each where his "Airborne" hat. I came to find out the wings on his hat were his orginal ones he received when he became qualified.

I was personally humbled to be in the presence of such greatness. I met a genuine war hero who was more embarassed when I told him that I was very proud to meet him. JJ and Hannah even said thank you to him when I told him he was solider war hero. He was a gracious man who truly represented the "greatest generation"

I remember you telling me about it, right after you met him

Glad that the kids could meet a man from the greatest generation. Soon they will all be gone

If you'd like to meet another one of the Band of Brothers, all you need to do is go to 3rd and Washington in Philly. He lives in the first house next to the Mummer's Museum...he's my friends father. I believe another one of his "brothers" lives down the street! Amazing men...
