I feel very bad! My first race went awful. I’m completely discouraged now and I’m even considering quitting with this sport. Has anyone been in similar situation and what’s the best way to overcome it? Please don’t suggest me this alternative methods such as going to a therapist or something like that. I’d like to overcome it on my own and discover if I’m actually talented for this sport or not.

I’m so sorry to hear that! I just don’t know why you’re so strongly opposed to a few psychotherapy sessions. Even the most famous athletes sometimes have a crisis and psychotherapy helps them find their way back. But if you don’t want that, you can just try being persistent and keep on training and the results will definitely come. As for the talent I can’t tell you whether you are or not talented, but I know that there is a saying about how success is the result of 1% of talent and 99% of hard work and that’s what you should always bear in mind. It’s the easiest thing to be a quitter, ad you should find the strength to carry on.
