Well, closer than he lives now.....he's an exec in the hotel biz and for the last 6 years he's lived out of the country, first in Jamaica and currently, until the end of this month, in Anguilla. I just talked to his mom and she said he took a job in W. Peoria, IL and he'll be moving home at the end of April!! YIPPEE!!!!! That's only about a 10 or so hour drive from here and flights to Chicago, etc are cheap, as compared to the $800 it cost to fly to Anguilla! 
I am too psyched, we are the same age, four months apart to the day, and he's been like my brother since we were kids. They used to call us "The Twins" growing up. It will be so great to have him back a lot closer and more accessible, and since he gets all sorta perks from his job he'll be able to come home for holidays and stuff now! I am trying to see if a detour to Peoria is doable on my drive either to or from Madison since I'm definitely driving out. Looks like this is going to be quite the odyssey since I am hoping to swing in a visit with RR (and hopefully get to see keltic too) on my way out.

Shelf, he's gonna be in for a rude awakening, the last thing he said before moving from Indiana to Jamaica was: no more cold winters!!! 
RR, I have....I saw him twice last year, unfortunately it was for both his grandparents' funerals.  Oh, and he was home once last summer for his BD.
I am too psyched though! How he's going to live without the beach is beyond me......although there is water there....here's a link to the place:
