Posted: 10/21/02 - 09:43 Post subject: My Weekend
Hi,
Hope you all had a great weekend. I trying to get caught up on reading all the post i missed this weekend.
Well my race went good. The hills were not as bad as i had heard.
My time was even a little better than usual. 26.22 for a 5k. I normally do about 30 min. I'm not a fast runner but i have heart.
It wasn't a large race either- i usually race in Charlotte,NC. They always have atleast 500 people. This race was in a small town in SC. They might have had 30 people.
I'm trying to decide now on a half marathon in december.
I think i can be ready be then. M y long runs are 9 miles in 1 hour 23 min.
What do you all think.
Vanessa

Congratulations on your 5K. I'm glad the hills weren't too bad for you.
I'm too new to give advice on a 1/2 marathon. I hope to do
my first in March.

Congrats on the race time! That's great!
What is your base miles/week right now? That'll help in determining how much you'll have to add in the next couple of months.

Great Time V!
IN terms of your half marathon it will really depend on how many miles you are doing per week right now. If you are up over 20 with a long of 9 or ten you might be okay. That is about where I was at last year when I did my first half marathon. I did start running in April so I had almost 6 months of training in before I tried it.
Good Luck!

Great job, Vanessa!! If you run in Charlotte you should be used to hills!! I have raced down there several times and some of them are NASTY! East or West Ave, I forget which, downtown and Dilworth, arghhh......
The Outback 10K is always a good fall race to run. I know there's a half down there but I forget when it is. March or April I think. Which half are you thinking of doing in Dec?
I agree with Boiler that it depends on your weekly mileage as well as the long runs. Depending on when in December it is, you should be able to finish as long as you can bump up your long runs some. Just make sure your weekly mileage is consistent, what are you running now?
