Posted: 10/19/02 - 07:34 Post subject: My Weekend Rant
The Bank versus The Grocery Store
A few weeks ago Jen did the food shopping after I hurt my back. She spent 229 bux. We used of banks debit card. I get an email yesterday morning from the bank stating that my account balance is low. I look into it and find out that the Giant (local food store) charged my account twice for that 229 dollars, 3 days after the original purchase. Jen calls the bank and tells them about it then she calls the store. The banks say its the Giant's fault that Giant says its the bank's fault. Now its a pissing contest to try and get the money refunded to us. There are two seperate transaction ID numbers, so I believe the Giant is at fault here. We spent nearly 10 grand at this store in the last year. Customer service at both places was sympathetic but offered no real resolution just blame. Hopefully we can resolve this and get a refund.
To make it worse my back is really bothering me, and its only Saturday morning.
End of rant, Have a great weekend everyone.

Ouch! Good luck with getting it resolved. I have a debit card also and we do our grocery shopping that way also. That is my biggest fear anytime it asks me to re-swipe my card.

ask them for the money back with INTEREST!!! it may work out to be quite a sum before the p. match is resolved.

That is exacly how I would handle it. Not loud or angry, just very determined and focused on sorting it out with the grocery store (two transaction numbers--they are a fault it my ugess) until the manager/district manager or whoever they have to call in makes it right.

several strongly worded letters should do the trick
i do not think it is a bank error
but it is really hard to say where it came from
they need to figure it out pronto
if the tables were turned they would be certianly bore a$$ing you about it

Its a really good store too, there prices are amongst the lowest in the region and this is the first time we have a problem, I am in a bit of a bind b/c I need to do grocery shopping and I don't know where to go. I have to go to the store anyway and drop a form that I got from the bank. I will emphasize that I spend a lot of money at the store and request some resolution pronto.

someone there will realize that you are about to walk. I'd go in, start by talking to the grunts who won't do anything, then keep asking for someone higher up. take the kids with you, let the store see that you are a busy dad with kids to take care of; you don't need this hassle and they should resolve it quickly, before your kids start to get cranky.
seriously, go camp out in the manager's office.

Yes! Take your documentation and park yourself at the manager's office. Don't leave until you have your money--not a promise of the money being returned but the money.

I went to the store and dropped some paper work off. Nothing can be done until Monday when the Corporate Cronnies are in. I hope to have this resolved in a few days. The store manager and his assistants were all gone, so I was dealing with some HS kid.
Sigh
