So, my impressions thus far:

The area where we live is farmland and very pretty. We found a great house at an amazing price.

St Louis downtown is almost completely empty on a Sunday morning. Not like Philly or New York or San Fran which never seem to empty.

The St Louis Zoo is one of the awesomest zoos I've ever been to--great displays--the butterfly house is amazing!!! And it's free!

I still haven't met Akern, although I think I've Stalker a couple of times. teehee

My son is enrolled in an amazing HS. HUGE. The band has its own semi to carry equipment.

The YMCA here is state of the art. New, clean, huge, brand new equipment and lots of it!!!

Steak and Shake is the suckiest of the suck. I ordered just plain spaghetti and they gave me ketchup as spaghetti sauce.

Plus it was dirty and the service was whack.

So, tell me something you like about your town and something you don't like about your town.

I think all Steak and Shakes suck.

/I base that broad generalization on my one visit to one S&S.

Last time I was in downtown St. Louis on a Sunday morning, I got to see a guy trying to car-jack someone. Shocked

Like - the area between where we live and the city proper does have a lot of forest preserves, so it's not going to get levelled for houses. It's nice to drive the roads, especially in autumn, because of that. Near to mucho shopping and restaurants.

Dislike - the perpetual road construction. A lot of it on stuff they supposedly fixed a year or two ago. The over-inflated self-worth that many people have here - I think that comes with having a lot of money (usually not earned but inherited). The absolute horrible driving that goes on.

Likes:
- only two stoplights and they are timed well enough to make it thru both of them
- 7 bars, 3 pizza joints, 2 gas stations, a stop n go, a pharmacy and a drive-thru/state store
- combination hardware/feed store on edge of town

Dislikes:
- too much local farmland sold off to build clusters of vinyl palaces

That's because downtown St. Louis sucks a$$ and nobody wants to go there.
