Posted: 08/21/06 - 09:16 Post subject: My Perfect 10 Miler RR
This race is on my home turf and I've been able to run it all 3 years they have had it. Met up with robp and my sister and we went over for the race. I had no real goals in mind, just start out at half marathon pace for the first few miles and try and bring it down from there.
Oh yeah, one other goal. Not get smoked by my sister. Yes we are grown ups but my sister will not let me forget that she is the younger, faster sibling.
The race started and the pace was fast (I never saw rob again - he was gone!) I just kept what I thought was my goal pace one I figured out that the mile markers were off. When we reached the 6 mile mark, I realized I was going at sub 10k pace I can remember thinking that this is going to be a good thing for the Akron RiffRaff relay team, but not such a good thing for me this Sunday since I still had 4 miles to go
I managed to hang on fairly close to that pace until the end but it wasn't pretty. I was, however, able to remove the timing chip from my shoe all by myself, and that is always a good thing.
Met up with Rob and my sister and it sounds like a good day was had by all on the Perfect 10 miler course.
Final time: 1:16:40 (only one AG place behind my sister )
