When in Boston last week, I signed an entry form for a week-long trip and cruise in Florida. Jokingly, I put that I was married (which I'm not). Well, last night they called me and I meet the demographics and am eligible for the trip. I'm not sure if I want to tell them I'm actually single or not.

So, the question is, if you were single, would you find another person to act as your SO and continue the lie in order to get a free trip? What could the company do if they found out?

I'd continue the lie. Provided, of course, I could actually find a girl that wouldn't mind.

I'd tell the truth. Maybe it'll end up being a "married's only" trip or something. Besides, its just dishonest.

Assuming that it was a check the box next to married rather than next to single, you could always say you checked the wrong box.

I have found in my life that telling the truth is easier to live with at the moment and it makes it easier to live with myself later.

What the company could do if they found out you were dishonest depends on the fine print that was at the bottom of whatever you filled out.

It's prolly some bullsh*t time share thing anyway, in which case they wanted you to be married so that you have adequate income to purchase said time share property and in return for the free trip you have to listen to a sales pitch and be harangued all weekend to buy their time share. No free lunches, dude.....it's likely not worth the hassle of lying to get the trip.

As I thought about it more, I'm leaning towards telling the truth.

It all goes back to that karma thing. If I do this lie, what's going to happen later?

tell the truth. You likely could be in for the whole bill if found out and techinically it is fraud.

This is totally a great premise for a Sandra Bullock-type romantic comedy.

Yeah, but the truth is good.
