I always read books to my daughter. Well, actually now she reads them to me at night before she goes to bed. My wife picked out a book for her from the libary about science. It talked about the different environments and seasons and was very insightful and educational. THEN, we got to the topic of the jungle, which for some reason the book was referring to as "rain forest." Then it went on to say that if we continue to trash the jungles, the earth would heat up and everyone would die, so it was important not to pollute. I started laughing and explained to her that the author was quite obviously insane and stupid. I mentioned that the other things in the book were quite all right, but that this part bore no relevance in fact, and that there is no scientific proof that man contributes significantly to this thing called "global warming" if it even existed. It's terrible when publishers pay authors for books when the authors don't even have their facts straight!!

Ya know that Shrek isn't politically correct? He keeps referring to his home as a "swamp". Everyone knows the right term is "wetland".

...I like the sound of jungle better myself Wink

Global warming? WHAT global warming? We can run on oil FOREVER! Kyoto is for morons!

Edited to say: I certainly hope you raced off to the school board and had that book banned and burned. It's for the good of the children.

In my graduate level teaching reading course, I objected with the professor's forcing me read books that I thought offensive to me and against my values. I even said, I would refuse to teach them.
We came to a middle ground and I did not have to read books that I found offensive but she said if the books were on the ciriculum I may be mandated to teach. Though it would come up more when it was presented to me.

Luckily now because in the school I teach in I have a lot of leeway in what I teach and just present facts and point out other sides of stuff too.

If alternative fuels are developed and introduced mainstream, do you seriously think Liberals won't find a way to limit their availability to our citizens in the same way they have done us re: oil drilling?! Liberals hate America!

Stop the hate!!!

Let's see...

dependence on oil = dependence on OPEC

Solar & wind power = self-reliance

You choose.

show me a solar powered SUV John and I am in Wink

Just wait until Hydrogen fuel tech is developed. The enviros will be happy because the only emmission is steam.
The Arabs will be pissed because their biggest consumer will not need them anymore. Then they will hate us for not buying their oil

I choose opening up ANWAR, more exploration and incentives and grants for alternative fuel research.

Honestly? They do?

Taking your approach, it might be argued be a liberal that conservatives have limited progress towards finding alternative fuel sources so as to limit our dependence on foreign oil while at the same time preserving places like the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge which while not valuable as a capitalistic resource, can still be considered valuable to humanity.

But that would be generalizing a whole segment of society based on their positions on a couple of issues rather than looking at their views as a whole, which are generally much more complex than "liberals hate America".

What's your stand on Cape Wind? I'm for it, and I'm distressed that a lot of environmentalists aren't. It's a terrible case of NIMBY. In fact, I've stopped taking calls from Robert Redford and RFK Jr.

Name a topic.

Tax increases?
Christian persecution?
Baby killing?
Entitlement dependence?

It all points to hating America. Would it be more accurate for me to say they hate the middle and lower classes?!
