Hey folks!

Just got home from the race and I wanted to let you all know about my "Run for Diversity 5K" this morning...

To preface it, last night Joy and I were in the area so we did a drive of the course and it was relatively flat and right on the mark of 3.1.

So this morning, the race finally began at 9:20 (supposed to start at niner )...and I take off. First mile clocked in at 7:33...feelin good, I'm the man. Next mile at 7:26, gettin tired, but still the man. But then something happened...for some odd reason, they had us run off the planned course and run an extra block completely out of the way!! So my last mile (a fellow runner said it was probably around 1.3ish miles), I clocked in at 8:01.

Total time: 23:00 on the dot. My goal was a sub-23 and I know in my heart that I did, so I'm pumped! Finished the race neck in neck with another guy...full sprint! but he got me right at the end Evil or Very Mad . After the race he patted me on the back and said "Thanks! don't think I would've made it without you!" Very Happy

All in all, perfect weather! 68 degrees sunny with a light wind. Can't wait for my next race!

joel

Oh, and I think I took home the bronze in my division but I didn't stick around...

Good job! Nothing like a little competition at the end to make it more exciting. Can I expect a flood of new members now from WI?

thanks you guys...I should add that I felt hella-pukey afterwards so that was a good sign that I gave it my all! (and no, I didn't go out drinking last night Mad ).

Sorry PH, I forgot to hand out the Riff Raff business cards....

Joel, Great job on the run. A 23:00 5.x km is outstanding. Looks like Rando and I will be chasing you in Mayville.

Maybe they changed the course because another 5km would be the same as the rest, but a 5.2 km is diverse..... Wink
