Well this week marks my 1 year anniversary that I entered into the partnership at the gym. Feel free to ask me anything about the gym, the business, or anything actually.

What have you learned about being an owner?

Excel, me? Hell no! My secretary uses it I think.
I've learned tons. I'm not good on the computer so I'm not suppose to touch it. "Save changes, yes or no?" is cool. With the stroke of 1 key I mixed up the first names with the last names on the memberlist.
I've learned a lot about advertising, being customer friendly, and I see dollar signs in every decision.
I've also learned how to seperate business from friendship. This is a partnership of 5. 3 of us are very good friends. We can be pissed at each other about an issue at the gym and let the other one know, then it's over. We go to dinner, laugh and have a good time. You must pick and choose you battles, and not take things personally. Just a few of the things I've learned.

I expect to make some money yes. Get rich, prolly not. What makes it all worth while is going to work everyday doing something I love. So many people don't get that opportunity. This is my dream job.

TYVM. Financing a franchise is not possible at this time. Who knows what the future will bring.

How many total memberships have you sold?
How many of those people visit the gym twice a week or more?

This is a very small gym in a town of less than 3000. We have about 200 members. This is yearly memberships. We have several who just come on day passes, month passes, etc.
I'd say more than half come at least twice a week. Good question.

Monday is the busiest day of the week by far. It is also my 12 hour work day at the gym. Never boring.

Do you think Monday is the busiest day because people are trying to 'redeem' themselves after a weekend of 'transgressions'?

Yes, plus although the gym is open both Saturday and Sunday, attendance is low on both days.

Free weights or machines?
Do you donate to the local schools whenever they seek sponsors? (I ask because it seems like such a good marketing strategy... I make a point of using businesses that support the local school teams/PTA/etc.)
What's the average patron's age?

Does your liability insurance cover the non-edumacated patron that may use a machine wrong and get injured?
