That is so true! When we lived in Kentucky we used to think the meteorologists had some stock in the local grocery stores and that freezing rain/snow predictions were announced in some effort to help lagging sales....you've never seen a grocery store fill up faster (or the bread and milk sell faster) than when they say snow up there!!

Darn it I wish I had known earlier you were stopping. I needed to get sour cream, tomatoes, shredded cheese, cranberry jelly and eye drops. Oh well maybe next time.
My mom would always stock up on milk and bread when the threats of inclement weather broke out. Then once it snowed she would heat up some hot chocolate, curl up on the couch, get out the cross stitch and tell us to get outside and play.

Usually about 1"/year. And it will be gone within a day in most cases.

You know, I have always wondered why people buy bread and milk and eggs when inclement weather is arriving. What are they going to do, make a buttload of french toast? Heck with that, buy a good bottle of wine or champagne or both, some oysters, some shrimp, a nice piece of grouper or tilapia or escolar and some pasta/rice and some veggies and go to town. Make a nice lobster bisque while you're at it!
If you're going to be stranded you may as well live it up!!!
