(or, How's Your Week Starting? )
So I leave the train station this morning. Got my bag of gym stuff for after work, and my briefcase. I loop the former over the handle of the latter so by carrying the briefcase, I'm carrying both. Which I've always done.
I get a block from the station, the bag of gear is gone. Disappeared. I traced my steps all the way back to the train, and there's nothing. Someone apparently cut the handle of the bag and made off with it. Go to the nearest Chicago Po-po, and tell them what happened. They ask where I'm from, and I simply say I came in on the Metra from the burbs. The basic reply was TFB - why am I wasting their time?
Why did I waste my time telling them? At least the stuff in the bag wasn't new or in great shape. In fact it was pretty sweaty from being used over the weekend. Doesn't bother me as much as the police reaction.
Stay away from me, cow-orkers.
I hate this f'ing city.

people suck.
i'm sure they're thrilled with their big score, someone else's DNA.
sorry you had to start off like this; just be glad there was no wallet with cards and cash involved. to the po-po's attitude too.

That sucks.
Crappy way to start the day.
Crappy way to be treated by another person, especially one that is being paid to help you.

Sorry to hear this. After our trip to Chicago, I was really thinking we'd like to move there once I graduate. Maybe not!

So sorry G. Just take consolation in them opening your gym bag looking for who knows what and getting the smelly reality of your dirty clothes...(doesn't help, I know)
how's my week starting? I was walking about 3 feet from a 3 car pile up just minutes ago...I amazingly missed getting hit by any of the shrapnel but my heart has yet to slow down.

DANG Dawg, that just sucks!!! glad not much of importance taken but just the principle.
to the cop with an attitude, DUDE to the Nth degree.
thankfully my experience with the cops last night was better. A fight Broke out in the Park that once de-escaltated, re-escalated and there were only 5 people fighting but there was a potential for another 40 to jump in.
Pfttt, glad your ok and i hope you said thank you to whatever diety is appropriate.

Good Friday '98, they towed my car from a legit parking place on a street near work. Out of some twenty cars parked on the block (both sides of the street), two were towed (no meters, so that wasn't an issue. Both cars were from the burbs; as they didn't have Chicago city stickers, they were considered fair game. (And two of the cars that stayed were parked in front of fire hydrants).
Amazingly, the court threw out the fine they tried to stick me with. But the city wouldn't pay me back the $150 I had to fork over to get the car out of the auto pound. Reasoning - even if you live in the burbs, if you come into Chicago to park, you should pay $90 for a city sticker.
Bite. Me.
