so uh, save yourself $8.

i had really hoped the other reviews weren't accurate - but the movie is very spotty, constant changes in sequences, and *minimal* story/character development. the wit of depp, knightley, and bloom is effectively wasted.

it is exactly like an amusement park ride, little 10 second mini stories strung together for a 2 minute ride, except it's a 2 hour + movie with proportionally segmented clips.

it's sort've enjoyable, but there were a few times when i would've rather just closed my eyes and had a good rest. the only really great thing about this movie is the monkey.

that, and i'm not even sure i know what happened.

so uh, i'd give this movie 2 stars out of 5. and i really think that's being generous.

and i love all the people in it, and have no outside qualms. the movie just wasn't worth it.

My friends pretty much said the same thing...which is incredibly disapointing because I though this would've been a great trilogy of sorts...

Oh well...guess I'll just save my money for the new Rocky movie...

I really enjoyed it. The special effects of the sea creatures were wonderfully done. Davey Jones's locker, the Flying Dutchman and the chest, was very creative writing bringing it to 'life'. It tied The Black Pearl in nicely and left you wondering whats gonna happen in the third one.

More stunts in Chest than Pearl, great three way sword fight, wacky natives that was a bit much, but what else ya gonna find on an island? And the kewl effects made it worth seeing.

Uh...not to mention the two men leads are awfully nice to look at

I gave it 5 of 5 stars. dunno
