The girlie and I went to see this feature film by National Geographic.
It starts at the end of summer in Antartica when it's a balmy 58 degrees BELOW zero and the Emperor penguins begin their migration to their breeding grounds during the harshest winters on Earth at the South Pole.
The penguins are cute, the narrator is outstanding (Morgan Freeman), the scenery is beautiful and nasty at the same time, and there is a little suspense, a little sadness, a little boredom and plenty of joy.
I enjoyed it and the girlie liked it, but had questions about why they had to die and it saddened her. There were plenty of awwws and chuckles from adults and children alike.
If you like animals, you would enjoy this film, but I wouldn't pay $7.50/person to see it. Wait for it to come out on video or to the dollar theatre.

I really want to see this! If you want another National Geographic style movie (was this one actually financed by NG?), check out "Winged Migration", though there is much less narration.

Would anyone know if this film has already been sent for wide release?
It's difficult to find a theatre showing this film where I live.

I did not know that. I knew that it was a french documentary that had the narration completely revamped, but that's about it.
Running Circles: I think it is currently playing in 2000 screens across the U.S., so it shouldn't be hard to find for people south of the border. I couldn't say for Canada. If you are by an AMC theatre, you might check there.

I took my daughter to March of the Penguins, and we had a fantastic time! Julie didn't get into it until the chicks arrived, and I did have to play interpreter for the narrator, Morgan Freeman.
I was stunned by the range of emotion the penguines evoked! The scenery is captivating and, overall, this is a fascinating film. We'll definitely add this to our collection.
I've also seen Winged Migration to which Pug refers. I like this film too and it also is impressive. I wouldn't suggest Winged Migration for the little ones, though. If you like Winged Migration, you may want to checkout the book, On the Wing, by Allen Tennant:
