I thought this was a good point, but off topic. I strongly encourage PH and elkid to debate further here.

It's not always about you. Really.

Lifting: 30 min. Just started back with it, so OK.
Swimming: 3.7 miles (4 sessions). Needs work.
Biking: 49.7 miles (2 rides). Needs work. |
184 miles / 4.5 weeks in July = 41 MPW avg.

Those numbers don't add up. What gives?

Cappy and nolefan, don't make this something personal, por favor.
This is a thread in which one of the most outspoken posters has been called out on being untruthful about their training. I feel it is important because anyone that considers following elkid's advice should be aware that she possibly does not do the work that she claims.
Referencing a person's posts is not a personal attack. Especially when they contain conflicting information.
No matter how much you like or dislike someone, if they lie about their training and racing then it should be brought to light in a place such as this where people tend to look for guidance from the more experienced runners.
I think we should all sit back and allow elkid and PH to continue their discussion.
I would really like to see this thread stay on topic. Thanks.

I don't like this thread or the direction it goes. I don't know anybody that hasn't elaborated on their training times and distances. I really don't think its fair to call some out on a public forum because the embellished the results.

That is a very good point. You should start another thread discussing the points you made. That would likely turn out to be very interesting and thought provoking. What are the benefits of stretching the truth about your training/racing? Why do people do it? Do you let people get away with it when you catch them? How often do you embellish your results? What are the effects when you catch a coach or advisor not being honest? The role of the Internet and real life in regards to fibbing about your training, etc. That would be a great thread.
I moved this particular topic out of another thread because it was getting off the original subject.

Please, be my guest and destroy someone for elaborating.
As for me, I really don't give a damn what people think about how much I train. My race results speak for themselves.

I don't think anyone is out to destroy anyone. Asking for a little truth in post content isn't asking too much. And I guarantee nobody is questioning your training regiment or race results.

As moderator, I feel like I have to chime in.
This is the world wide web and the modern day equivalent of speaking in the town square. Don't expect utopia folks. If you post something, be prepared to defend it. Being "called out" is going to happen. Posting something here is about as public a pronouncement as you can make.
Also worth mentioning is this is an internet bulletin board. The only action anyone can take is "reply". Whether it's supportive or critical is the member's choice. A bulletin board like this is first and foremost a place to receive "feedback", thus the reply button. Runningforums.com is not blogspot.com nor is it your email inbox, it's a forum that generates feedback.
We runners are an eclectic bunch. We live life often to the tenth of a mile, the fraction of a second and the almighty grand total. I see nothing wrong with Runner X questioning numbers that don't add.
