When I had my 3/4-ton pickup, I dropped about $2000 in one trip on just tires and rear leaf springs that needed replacing. Confused

blown head gasket on a '79 chevy monte crapolo. $600. I didn't have the $$ so it sat in the shop until a few paychecks later. That was the last time I ever ask my father for help in my life. My sister lived pretty close to my workplace, so I stayed there so my coworkers could give me rides. We had to do this without her landlord knowing. (she lived in some old dude's house)

i'm still driving my 95 toyota that is about to turn the 100K mark, and the most expensive repair i've ever had was 4 new tires.

i have had to maintain it, flushing systems, changing oil, rotating tires, brake jobs, turning rotors....and i think the most expensive bill i've had, including the state inspection and emissions testing was $350, that did not include the tires.

just. jinxed. myself.

my next car will be a toyota.

sounds like my last minivan....'93 Mercury Villager. My current Montana has had at least 3 recalls and then there was the time that the automatic door wouldn't stay closed on a frigid day or the day that it did close on my son's shoe and we couldn't open it.

We spent about $4k on sprucing up my Trooper. She is a 93 had low miles (still does) but we had to get new tires and some other things done.

Like a clutch and some steering thing and the brakes. We were SO lucky that Isuzu and Acura are inbred bastages because I had to pay Acura prices for the clutch job.

Dude said: "I have never done a clutch job that cost THIS MUCH. I am so sorry!". Mad

HA! They were going to do something about the "needs wiper fluid" light that constantly stays on. When they called to asked if I wanted it fixed, I told them no.

That's where I drew the line. The light can stay on!!! Mr. Green

$4000 between two repairs for a blown head gasket on a 1995 Ford Windstar.

Ford originally told us to have inappropriate relations with ourselves when we asked for compensation.

About a year later, they admitted fault and cut us a check for the total amount.

Also to be noted: Ford's financial problems ever since.... Mr. Green

The infamous 'Sty had many problems, among them a computer chip missing from her transmission that prevented her from going in reverse. Minor detail. We originally paid for it and were told a similar message but eventually Dodge came around and paid us back. However her most expensive repair was while she was still under the ownership and maintenance of my dad (i was lucky). I don't remember what it was but she wouldn't drive, horrible smell and the head gasket sounds very familiar and ran around $2500. It was so much (and the 'sty was worth so little) the shop kept calling my dad to tell him they couldn't in good conscience let him pay that much for a car repair on a car not even worth that and they could help me find a used beater (in better shape, the sty was a beater) for about the same price that would drive better. Dad believed it was an investment in the life of the car. I guess she did get me to Texas (with no a/c) almost 2 years later where I then bought my own car, so it was worth that much to my dad.

I hate to report the Saturn's relatively cheap history in fear of a jinx, so I won't.
