The journey between waking up in the morning and the first cup of tea is precarious and immensely sad. It requires courage.

The journey from the first cup of tea and the first encounter with the dog is full of hope and pleasure.

The journey from the dog to the desk is difficult, serious and erratic.

The journey from the desk to the first daydream is plesant winding and mysterious.

And so the various journeys continue until the great circumnavigation reaches its finale between the feet leaving the floor and the head arriving back on the pillow.

I'm a morning person - get that from my dad. Every weekday, up at 4:30 AM, on the train at 5:30, and at my workstation at 6:30.

I'm usually my most productive in the morning. But, except for races, it's very hard for me to run in the morning. The club I'm in does their group run on Saturday morning at 8, but it's like pulling teeth for me. (no, I don't go drinking the night before)

Do your eyes POP! open and you jump out of bed to get your coffee and shower, pumped and ready for the day?

Or do you lie there thinking of excuses why you can't go to school/work, and thinking about bed being the best invention on the planet.

Do you want to b!!tchslap your spouse for feeling the EXACT opposite of how you feel?

The last couple weeks I've been wide awake before my alarm, no matter when I go to bed. Not sure why... dunno I want to maximize my sleep dammit! But I am never really tired during the day either, so that's good.

I look forward to my work in the morning because I earn my keep teaching exercise classes at my school and have nice students this semester--so who could complain about that? It's a world's difference from when it took 45 minutes to drag myself out of bed before a day of being an overworked reporter.

No spouse to b!!tchslap!

Late to bed. Early to rise. My eyes snap open at the sound of the alarm and I'm ready to go.

Drives the mrs crazy. Mr. Green
