is the preliminary diagnosis for Abby. It was mild to moderate before but now it is looking more like moderate (mild is 25%, moderate is 50% behind in development).
Abby is followed by a developmental pediatrician and that is what is it is looking like. It really is okay. We have known this for a while and her learning curve and development ARE progressing they just do so at a slower rate.

Part of Abby's problem has been complicated by numerous medical issues so we will never know a cause, and even finding one if there is is useless and pointless, nothing will change. She has come a very long way in the last year so we are focusing on what she has done and can do. The can't do will come with time albeit it will just take longer.

So that being said it looks like me and Abs will be doing some special olympic events(ironically our county championship are in Radnor Mr. Green , so we could get a police escort Wink )

Abby still rocks my face off. While waiting for the doctor, Abby was running around in the waiting room. He walked right past her because he did not expect to see a little girl running around in the lobby. He even took a picture of her because she was so happy today.

Joe---how do they assess that at such a young age??? I mean how can they determine how much the delay is due to retardation just vs delay. In delay, I mean, she's been in the hospital so often in comparison to most children her learning days have most certainly had to have been affected. Take a child with no retardation and if they've been hospitalized as much as Abby and then put back with their peers they would be behind.
Many premature babies are still catching up in as far as 3rd (my sons best friend). Do they think that Abby can progress up the learning curve once her health issues become less of an issue???
