The fact that I wait till the last moment is an established fact. In over 50+ years, I have never had the freedom to plan my own vacation. Please refrain from beating the dead horse.

Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to assist me in planning a possible vacation in the NJ, DE or MD shore area.

Mission Paramaters:

Vehicle of choice on this mission will be the Harley due to it's low fuel consumption and stealth mode. Fuel tank range is 100 miles. Secure parking is prefered.

Hotel room must be affordable for the entire 4th of July week as this mission is being funded by a covert "slush fund".

Other mission options (Plan B, C and D) will be considered should Plan A not survive the first exchange of small arms fire.

That is all.

Cool

What happened to the VA factor in that equation?

Princeton, NJ - University town steeped in History
Red Bank, NJ - Antiques/music festivals
Atlantic City, NJ - GAMBLING!
Cape May, NJ - Victorian city w/lots of charm
Dover, DE - More Gambling!
Rehoboth Beach, DE - Typical beach town but not real over crowded
Cambridge, MD - Antiques, not overcrowded, coastal
Annapolis - Come on, you've GOT to go to Annapolis!!!
Baltimore - ditto.

Hope that helps a little.

I got nuthin'. All my missions revolve around getting from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible and spending the remaining available time either in a boat or traipsing the woods.

Hiking to each state's "highest point" is fun too.

Other problem: Stuff nearer the coast is prolly booked by now for the 4th.

Sorry, I'm no help. I rarely vacation. Neutral

Why won't/can't you carry a tent?

I do have a very good tent that will fit in one of the saddle bags, but when you add a sleeping bag and related gear, it becomes a lot for a smaller Harley. With a full dresser, no problem.

I also found most of the camp grounds within miles of the beaches are also booked.

So then come to DC for the 4th. It is a most excellent time!!!

Mission Paramaters:

Vehicle of choice on this mission will be the Harley due to it's low fuel consumption and stealth mode. Fuel tank range is 100 miles. Secure parking is prefered. No problem, bring chains.

Hotel room must be affordable for the entire 4th of July week as this mission is being funded by a covert "slush fund".

This parameter your "mission killer". You have decided to vacation on probably on of the busiest weekends of the year. Your hotel/motel search needs immediate attention. Strongly recommend you get onto to Orbitz, Hotels.com or any of the other many and varied web sites for a room availability check.

Other mission options (Plan B, C and D) will be considered should Plan A not survive the first exchange of small arms fire.

That is all.

Cool

Other mission considerations: Day trips for the weekend.

If you can find them I would suggest a stay in Lewes, Rehoboth or other Delaware beach towns.

A little lower on the peninsula would bring you to the DELMARVA peninsula with its associated host of activities et al.

Good luck
