Major blowout in a Chicago suburb....Dude, your mom's pissed, I think you're gonna get grounded... Wink

Did you ever have a huge blowout with your parents out of town in high school?

I was too scared to do it at my parents house, well, until I was in college anyway. But I attended a few good ones, one of the biggest/best wasn't even busted by the parents, it was the most impressive cleanup job evah....we still talk about that one.

I never hosted parties - too much work. I did however plan them at other people's houses. Our most spectacular blowout was at my friend Rachel's house. This half a million dollar home was trashed. And a lot of stuff was stolen - VCRs, TVs, jewelry, furs, you name it. When we realized that her parents were due back from their trip in 8 hours and there was NO WAY we could clean the house in that timeframe, we decided to call a cleaning service.

Then we discovered that all the telephones had been stolen, too.

Hubby's family has something of a tradition of the kids throwing bashes while the parents are away. And they videotape them. And play the tapes for the parents when they come home. It's surreal.

Back in high school, some girl threw one of these weekend bashes at her rich parents house...Well, half the school showed up and at the end of the weekend, the house was DESTROYED...arrests were made, it was ugly.

Luckily, I was at home playing with my bottle cap collection that weekend...

I often had parties when my parents were gone but never had blowouts like you guys. I've only seen those in movies.

But in my on-campus suite (6 girls, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, maid service)... man, had one hella blowout without arrests and without damage. It was THE partay of my lifetime.

Parent never went away, no parties growing.

Although we did have the local police breakup one of the parties when Joe and I were living together, many years ago.

We've busted up more than a few. Wink

Funny is that a few parents called us to tell us they are going away and are giving permission to enter the property and check for any underage drinking at any time.

Does that hold up in court?

My parents would have strung my up by my toenails if I had dared to have a party while they were gone. A few friends did have some small get togethers in their respective basements but they were low-key affairs. One of the dads used to come down and play quarters with us.
