Based on a true story, at least. Here's my thought: if you want to see it, rent it. There are better movies out (unless you've seen them all, in which case, by all means).

Interesting...

I just keep seeing the preview for it and just don't get it. Meg Ryan in a boxing movie....something just doesn't click there.

I agree Molly. First, I don't see it. Second, she looks and sounds terrible in the previews. I mean, I guess I understand her trying to break her typecast of the romantic comedy, but Meg, please, lay off the smokes...

She could not even last one round. I understand she is a big time smoker. (cigarettes Pug Wink )

I think Proof of Life did her in. I can't stand to watch her in anything now. BTW...Proof of Life sucks.

I liked her in Proof of Life. She didn't have much to do, though.

I second that. I'm not sure why I even watched that.

She did break typecast in "When a man loves a woman" and was excellent. And she has some good comedic timing, ie, "When Harry Met Sally", but I think now her time may be over...

I found Proof Of Life way too distressing. I didn't know if I should pull for Russell Crowe or the abducted husband. I like my movies with a clear moral imperative.
Meg Ryan is starting to look like she's made out of Play-Doh.

All this meg bashing makes me sad. She rocks. I think I'll watch You've Got Mail now!

The movie isn't based on a real life story so much as it is INSPIRED by a real life story. You see the difference.

And, the accent is something she copied from the woman who inspired the movie. She's just trying to keep it real. Somewhat anyway.

I saw her on tv promoting the movie. It's true... what a difference Today makes. Wink

Meg Ryan has never been in that type of role before, so it could definitely be a hit or miss type of movie. I agree with Pug about renting it if you are really interested.

I love Meg Ryan. Ok, maybe i don't love her but she's ok to me. But I'm not sure this kind of acting is for her.
