 Posted: 03/21/06 - 09:32 Post subject: Meanwhile on other fronts, Abby went into the hospital again
She over the last several weeks has been been battling a combination of ear infections and strep throat. Neither of which has been clearing. It has been a battle because antibiotics really throw her immune system out of wack. Well, she ended up getting what the docs think is a strep related pneumonia and was really having a rough time breathing. When admitted, Abby was placed on continuous oxygen with Albeuterol for 18 hours to settle her down. She has been moved back now to every two hours of treatments and is off the oxgyen. Though this is the worst she has ever been breathing wise in a while, she responded well to very aggressive treatment. All of the basic stuff we did at home did not work, when it got to be too much, she had to go in. We tried for two days treating her as best we could at home and she kept getting worse.
Amazing what real aggressive treatments do. We do not sweat her respiratory admissions that much, even though she decompansates quickly she for the most part bounces back, though this time was the longest it took for her to turn around. We just quietly hope that this is not a sign of worse things to come down the road.
