NO CHEATING!

It has been estimated that Halley’s comet has a mass of 100 billion tons. Further, this comet is estimated to lose 100 million tons of material during the few months that its orbit brings it close to the Sun. With an orbital period of 76 years, what is the maximum remaining life span of Halley’s comet.

*There is not an answer in my book, but I came up with an approximate answer. Based on estimated life spans, I think my answer is viable.

I think my logic was 100 Billion (mass) divided by 100 Million (lost mass per trip) = 1000 trips * 76 years per trip = 76,000
