I hate commercials specifically marketed toward kids. My 7 yo is so suckered into it all, too. There should be a law about this! Evil or Very Mad

No, not really. I just get really ticked when I go to buy cereal, for instance, and my son decides he wants to buy a particular cereal because he saw a commercial about it and they SAID it "Taste's GRRREEEAAAAT!" (or something similar). Then, I get the cereal home, he eats one bowl full and then the rest sits in our pantry until 2010! Of course, I'm not just talking about cereal, obviously.

my family has a running joke about ads aimed at kids. when my brother was little, he fell into the trap of wanting everything he saw on tv commercials, to the point of loudly proclaiming "I want that!" when the ads came on. My older brother and I would try to beat him to saying it. Then we figured out we could get him to proclaim that he wanted some girly toy, or some piece of junk that he really didn't want. THEN make fun of him for saying he wanted it.....

To this day, everyone (my parents, my brother, and even my kids) will yell out "I want that!" when a commercial comes on and we all have a good laugh because of my little bro's greed.

Beat him to the punch! tell him that you want it (and thus he can't have it)

I'm with Diva, it should be illegal. Kids are bombarded with ads all the time, very manipulative. Its against the law a many other countries to target marketing to minors, Canada, Italy, Australia...if you think about it, it should be, at least under 16, its not the kid's money anyway, shouldn't the parents have a say where their money goes? Its part of the many reasons experts think kids are getting fatter, during cartoons and kid programming all there are are junk food advertisements. And then at the grocery, parents would rather pick their battles and just give in when kid screams for chocolate covered fried sugar puffs. So, marketer wins. Parents' wallets and kids' health lose.
