So how are you doing so far? Any big surprises?
I'm 0-2 in the 5-12 games today. The BYU game was close, I figured it would be. Florida was just disappointing, props to Manhattan for a well played game. Other than that it looks pretty good. Some really great games going on today though, Maryland-UTEP was frighteningly close, as was Wake-VCU. Great game with S. Ill and Alabama also...

0-2 so far that I know of. I have missed most of the games today. I guess I will have to look later and see how I did.

ACC is 3 - 0 and UNC should hold off Air Force as we speak. The Jackets will dump Northern Iowa tmw afternoon to move the best conference in the land to 5 - 0.

There's no doubt that the ACC is the best conference. It's ridiculously dominant.... Maryland, UNC, Duke, Ga Tech, NC State, Wake Forest... not to mention teams like Florida State that are good, yet they play in the hardest conference imaginable. I don't care how low your seed is, you're a powerhouse if you're in the ACC and you make it to the big dance.
I'm a Maryland fan myself... fear the turtle.

Well the day is done... I went 11-5 today, I got shocked by a few games... Nevada? Manhattan? (yeah, everyone called it too) Seton Hall?
Other games I missed were DePaul and Syracuse. I think last year I was 15-1 after the first day. On the optimistic side, everyone that lost today is scheduled to lose next round in my brackets.
I'm looking forward to the Maryland-Syracuse game and the UNC-Texas game.

I'm not doing great so far.....tied for last in our pool. And to think early in the evening I was teasing my hubby because he was last.
I'm 11-5 right now, we'll see how the rest of the weekend goes. I was really peeved Alabama lost at the end since I picked them, dang. But that was a great finish! And I almost picked Manhattan but didn't....big mistake there, too.

Don't discount the Big East Teams -
Wife and I are both Seton Hall Grads. My wife even played on the first women's team 30 years ago. HA ! they thought it was over at 14:00 in the 2nd half but... THEY WON 80-76!!! Bring on Duke at 1:10PM Saturday !!
In the women's NIT Seton Hall Lady Pirates advanced to the 2nd round after defeating George Mason Univ in OT 61-56. They will play either St Joseph or Kent State on Sunday
PS wife's brackets did not do well...

I was at a conference in Denver yesterday at the Adams Mark Hotel, which has been labeled as Terrapin Headquarters.
They had many Terp pom poms and these really hella tight cut out Terp logos all over the place. I acquired some on my way out. I'll post a pic.
At one of the breaks of my conference, I ran over to the big TV area the hotel had setup and realized I was watching the end of the Wake Forest game with a few of the UM players and their parents. Their game had been over for just over an hour. I was surprised to see them their that soon. They didn't seem to chipper. That scare might have been a good wake-up call for them.

Did anyone see the AF vs UNC game? AF was in control of the game for the first 30 minutes. They fell apart at the end and missed some key 3's, while UNC hit that hail mary NBA 3 with 1 second on the shot clock... wtf?
Anyway, I think AF made a great showing and got some respect. The announcers were clearly impressed. They expected a Princeton clone, but were freaking out because the cadets were also fast and athletic. Look for the Falcons to return to the Big Dance next year.
Also, look for AF/UNC to play each other early next season on an aircraft carrier.

I fared much better on day two. 14-2, but with another 5-12 loss. Sheesh, I had those all backwards. Didn't think UAB had a chance... honestly didn't know anything about Pacific. I'm just happy my sweet 16 is still intact.

Let me just say that Seton Hall's major mistake today was showing up for the game. Oh well, that's why Duke is seeded 1. Too bad, couple of years ago Duke won by about 2 points against SHU.
There's always next year !!
For those who care: Seton Hall Lady Pirates advanced to round II of the women's NIT and will be playing St Joseph's in Philly Sunday. (Yes, THAT ST Joseph's)
