I don't know anything about Pug and his running history, or even much about chip mats and marathons, but looking over the results there are a lot of people who are missing chip times from various points (especially the half). Couldn't there be any other explanation for it?
I have no idea whether Pug cheated or not. I just seems like something you should have some pretty solid proof of before accusing something of. |
where does Pug fall into this?
The dude in question should tell me why he went off the course 3 times then. The mats that read the chip on each runners shoe giving them split times and to verify the runner completed the course.
The mats are from curb to curb across the street at various points of the race. It is impossible to miss the mats, especially the turn around mat at 20 miles. The runners are directed into a chute and directed over the mat to capture the time.
The course's finish is out and back, very easy to turn around and finish in. He missed the latter two mats to catch his split. He needs to explain to the officials why. The evidence points to him not unless he offers an explaination as to why I stand by what I say.
His chip cant be faulty it read beginning and his finishing split.

Ooops. I’m embarrassed. I first read this last night when I was up sick at 1 am. Somehow I read it as Pug’s time. I must have been delusional. I apologize.

I consider myself an expert on this race. I have run the course twice, have run the streets in the area over 100 times including 20+ races. I know the way they set up the courses, I know the layout and the geography. If this is not a guy just turning around just to get a BQ I do not know what is.
Sorry I believe this guy has to prove it to me. Basically he can't the evidence cannot back up his claims.

Good thing he didn't run the Green Bay Marathon.
Starting next year, that one is going to be the first to have a chip mat at every mile.

they didn't this year???? I'll have to look at results....but I think they did. I missed one of the mats and I admit that I DID go off course. It was the start of the trail, raining and slippery and I ran on the grass until a volunteer said "you better get on the trail or you'll miss timing checks"
I know the RD and mats at every mile does.not.suppose.me.at.all

First half of the marathon a 8:02.7 per mile pace. the second half a 4:47.9. What would he be trying to prove with that sort of discrepancy?
