My Daughter, Stormie, is now the Field Conductor for the the Southmoreland Scottie's Marching Band!!!!!!
We've been talking about this for nearly a year. She is truly a band geek, and absolutely loves marching band. She asked me about auditioning for the Field Conductor position late last summer, we talked about it through the fall, and we have worked on it together through the winter. She was here with me last night, polishing up her salute and working on her audition piece (she had to conduct a song of her choice, as it played on the CD.) She chose "Shining Star" and did some creative things with it. Since she is a junior, this will prolly mean 2 years of Field Conductor for her.
Dad was all  when she called with the good news. I'm running out to see her now.
