How can I sum it up?
Cold Start.
Felt great.
Awesome music.
Beautiful scenery around Casco Bay.
No problems..until
right about the 9th mile it started to not be so easy
mile 10..ugh..
mile 11..wail
mile 12...I stopped hearing the music. Only the "no walking" mantra in my head.
Mile 13...the tiniest little kick you ever did see. I almost missed it myself.
Across the finish line I got emotional and ended up hyperventilating for about 30 seconds, and then walked back to find where the Ranger was. I caught up to him and had enough time to tell him it was just around the corner and he was off like a shot. Since there was no way I could muster 2 kicks...I just veered off.
Interestingly enough, he would probably have been just ahead of me or right with me had he not had to commune with nature.
He rocks my face off.
Anyway, I came in with a time of 2:18:55, he came in with 2:24:sumthin.
