I have to work.
At my office, NOBODY even knows a tournament is going on.
They think Shaq/Kobe are on the same team.
And that Sammy Sosa is the all time homerun king.
I am very depressed (all of the above events would have been great to experience with sports fans yesterday). I wish I had hoops friends to enjoy this month with. But I don't.
To cheer myself up, I decided to wear one of my old basketball t-shirts from my NAIA college days. And I'll be reading Bill Simmons hourly tournament blog all afternoon.

You meant Baseball, right? I know not of this basketball of which you speak.
The season has started, my team is doing well, but the pressure is on. They were national champs last year.

They key here is education. I had to take my football loving, NBA obsessed, MLB stat-taking cow-orkers and educate them that they too could follow and love the sport of college basketball. It took some patience, a few powerpoint presentations, a lot of blue paraphernalia, and hosting (and winning) my own bracket pool, but I now have ~ 1/3 of my company actually following basketball, or, at least paying me money pretending to. Only problem: 2 twleve year old kids of cow-orkers are currently dominating
I. love. it.

Does anyone else see the irony in that Winthrop almost became the next Gonzaga last night?
How upset do you suppose UK fans are that UAB is still alive in the tournament?
How many people spent 20 minutes thinking Farleigh Dickinson was going to pull off the impossible?
Was I the only one that jumped out of my chair and yelled when West Virginia went the length of the court without the ball hitting the floor and won the game on a last second DUNK? Even though I don't care about either team.
Who thought it was a FUNK-y way to end the game?
Has anyone noticed that Boise probably averages 300 fans per game each year they host the first round?
Does anyone think Jay Bilas is a complete tool and Kevin Harlan is becoming the signature voice of basketball these days?
Do you realize that Texas Tech winning gives us one more chance at seeing a Knight incident?
Who prays that Bill Walton is not allowed to announce college games for CBS?
Forget graduation rates... has anyone done a survey on the average annual income of tourney teams' players after college?
Does anyone else remember Manhattan, Kent State, UNC Wilmington, Cleveland State, George Washington, and Princeton back in the day?

Yes, that game was nuts.

I can't imagine it really matters since they are on the other side of the brackets. But if I was Arizona, I'd be a touch concerned.
How many people spent 20 minutes thinking Farleigh Dickinson was going to pull off the impossible?
Not me.
Was I the only one that jumped out of my chair and yelled when West Virginia went the length of the court without the ball hitting the floor and won the game on a last second DUNK? Even though I don't care about either team.
I cried. I thought Creighton was going to pull it off. Similar reaction with UTEP, when the guy stepped out of bounds and turned over the ball.
Who thought it was a FUNK-y way to end the game?
Lame.

Yes, but they have a sweet court. You'd have to be a die hard fan to go to Boise, of all places. Too bad there's no games in Baton Rouge.
Do you realize that Texas Tech winning gives us one more chance at seeing a Knight incident?
I was hoping they'd lose on some idiot move in the last few seconds. Just to watch him throw something. (And I picked UCLA.)

I don't know announcers and I don't remember "back in the day."

| Quote: | | How many people spent 20 minutes thinking Farleigh Dickinson was going to pull off the impossible? | 1 here. I wanted it even if it would have completely jacked up my bracket.
| Quote: | | Has anyone noticed that Boise probably averages 300 fans per game each year they host the first round? | Because who lives in (much less 500 miles near) Boise?
| Quote: | | Does anyone think Jay Bilas is a complete tool and Kevin Harlan is becoming the signature voice of basketball these days? | Jay Bilas is a tool, but, he's hot.
