Only thing that sucks is how far away from everything the Marriott West is. Would the Riff Raff group want to get a more downtown location? I know I would, if I weren't staying with the folks.

I'll probably be staying in Rapid City, SD. How far is that from the starting area?

Good ideal. Does anyone have a general how far it is, since it seems we need to pick up our packets at the Marriott.
We had the same problems last year with the Philly Marathon had to walk several blocks to catch the shuttle to pick up our stuff.

The Marriot wouldn't be a good choice in my opinion. Sure they offer shuttle service but you're a good 20+minutes away from the start of the race.
The best choices would be any downtown hotel...near the race and near the 'drinkin establishments'. Double bonus!

well, it appears that although they changed the location of the expo, they haven't changed the host hotel.....although I did shuttle last year and it wasn't bad at all....it is a nice hotel. The sherathon on John Nolen Drive is much closer....but really some of the hotels downtown and east side are a little scarey. (of course I'm a former west-sider)

Do they have a one-mile run run? If so, count me in!

Only problem with the Sheraton is the cost. One of the most expensive in Madison. There are a couple of others very close to that (brand new) and they are within walking distance of the race finish. Can't remember the names of them right now, but they would definitely be cheaper than the Sheraton.
