Nice job on your part JU. Bad job on the water stop problem - I've never heard of something that foolish.

I'm not surprised. I'm more surprised that people still do that sucky marathon. I'm not sure where the problem lies with the race. It sucked under it's lasts race director also. Volunteerism is not a problem for the ironman, so I can't blame it on the community. I know when I ran Madison back in 2001.....I knew I would NOT be back

But last year it got bad. This year, it fell off the face of the earth. General question I'll throw out, which I did when the bunch of us were at the restaurant for the post-race meal - do races and the Memorial Day weekend mix?

Sorry to hear about the lame event planning, JU, but you did kick ass to get out there and do the best you could, given the circumstance.
Madcity is my home town. Kind of disappointed to read the race sucked this year not because of the heat but because of lousy planning.

Amazing you could do so well despite silly setbacks like a freaky water situation. (wth was up with that?!)
Shows how well trained you are.

It seems like something different goes wrong with the MadCity races every year. I had planned on the 10K, if not the half, but had the flu for several days leading up to the race. Needless to say, although it is always a nice excuse to get to Madison to visit my folks (and some of y'all), I wasn't concerned with missing it due to the fact there have been so many issues. Pretty sad, really. Sorry to hear that another mistake on their part cost you a pr.
