Find the six-digit number in which the first digit is one less than the second, the third digit is half the second, the fourth digit is three times the third and the last two digits are the sum of the fourth and fifth. The sum of all the digits is 24.

I've been working on this for 30mins and I'm stumped. Now I'm late for work. I look forward to knowing what I'm doing wrong.

the last two digits are the sum of the 4th and 5th...
that doesn't make sense... if it's a 6 digit number... how could the 5th number be the sum of itself plus the 4th digit?
maybe im misunderstanding the instructions...

the trick being that the largest the digit could be was 9 (and a multiple of three)... and then once you look at the 'last two digits' properly. it all makes sense.
