What's the best way to lower your heart rate after a long run?

I understand that you should gradually slow your pace and bring it down that way; however, it took me a great deal of time last night to get mine down after my 13 mile run. I seemed to still be winded for quite some time (breathing hard).

I'm not sure what's normal or not? I'd like to hear it from you.

just walk around a little, take in some water. I wonder if you were dehydrated also.

Also, force yourself to take long deep breaths.
