That sucks PH. My kid's graduation is upon us in a little over a week. I've warned him repeatedly about the dangers of alcohol and driving. So far it's gotten through - I hope he doesn't have a lapse in his judgement.

One reason I don't have kids...I don't have to worry endlessly about their safety.

Just love your kids and give them time. I see too many kids that have much in the ways of things in Radnor but not much in the way of their parents time or love.

Sorry to hear this, PH. Your son is learning too many difficult life lessons in such a short amount of time.
Our school district sponsors a program in the high schools to educate our kidlets about the dangers of drinking and driving. My daughter got the full impact of it this year; at the start of the day, and every fifteen minutes for the rest of the day, a bell rings signifying the statistic that every fifteen minutes someone is killed by a drunk driver. When the bell rings, a student with ghastly make-up starts roaming the hallways and enters classrooms. By the end of the day, there are A LOT of ghastly students roaming the campus. It is quite an eye-opener for the kidlets. This year, they added a twist for the seniors; they held a special assembly and had role-playing where selected students read letters they wrote to their parents after they died in a drunk driving accident, then they had parents read letters to their children that had died in drunk driving accidents.
My kidlet said there wasn't a dry eye in the gym, and when I got home from work a few hours later, she was still shook up and started crying again. It had a HUGE impact on her. I hope it had the same impact on the rest of the students.

That's a fantasic program - Fatal Choices. Our kids love it, and it seems to have an impact.
It amazes me how many of my students have DUI's and MIPs (minor in possession) charges, and think it's normal.

wow - i can see how this would hit home with alot of sensitive kids who would normally never give this topic a second thought until it horribly happens. great idea.
such a happy time of year for graduating seniors but it is always marred by some kind of drinking/driving tragedy in alot of districts.
