We're flying down together the weekend after Labor Day so I can get a look at the place as well. It's not Key West, but Islamorado; but apparently it's very pretty; there's a lot to do on the adjoining Keys and the restaurant has some real possibilities.
Real estate is expensive; but that seems to be the only minus.
An additional BIG bonus for me; the seasonal allergen factors that make me miserable in Ohio are minute or nonexistent in the Keys.
This could be really fantastic!!

Thanks, you guys!!! This could be an awesome opportunity; I guess the restaurant had an excellent reputation but has been mismanaged in the last few years.
Coach - they are intending on cutting a lot of staff due to theft/laziness issues... If it wasn't for the fact that he and I should NEVAH, EVAH work together I'd be tending bar too.
SC - I saw that doing some research. Apparently when the Spanish first sighted the island, the reflection from the pinkish seashells on the water gave the island a purple hue, hence the name.
I'm excited!!! If everything works out contractually and with the notice here we are looking at October to November timeframe, with Thanksgiving being the latest move date. We're not allowed to tell anyone here yet what's going on...this town is a lot smaller than it appears and news travels quickly. (So the current place doesn't screw him on vacation pay/past due consulting fees, etc).
Did I mention there's only one two lane highway all through the Keys? I think I need to learn how to drive a boat!
