I would think twice if I were you. Loch Ness is really too cold for a casual swim for most of the people. The average temperature is 50F which is too low for my taste. Actually it's never lukewarm. Of course, some competitive swimmers and boaters enjoy the challenge. However there is a woman who beats all. In 1999, Tammy Van Wisse called Australian "Superfish" set a new record for swimming the length of the Loch. It took her 9 hours and 6 minutes to swim 24 miles. She was 15 minutes faster than the previous record holder. Unless you are as fit as Tammy I would advise against it. If you really want to do it check with somebody who has enough experience to give you the suggestions and tips how to do it and stay alive and well.
