I guess I can't imagine being one of the family members/friends of one of the POWs and then seeing that footage. That's a horrid way to find out. Or seeing your loved one's division in battle live; seeing someone go down, and then have to wonder if that was them. I mean, you already know that can happen; why smack someone in the face with it.

Haven't watched a whole lot myself. I have no problem with reporters. Just one of our freedoms. As long as they don't jeapordize anyone's safety. The biggest plus I see is to imagine if there was some kind of imposed military blackout on reporting. Conspiracy theories and anti-government backlash would be unbelievable.

I do think it's interesting, though, that so many reporters ask, "Can you tell us where you are?"

In the first place, no, dipstick, they can't. The whole world watches American news so it's not a strategically smart idea. And in the second place, most people in this country couldn't find Iraq on a map, so the nuance of where the troops are is meaningless.

Also, in case, you with small kids didn't already know, PBS has decided to put solely children's viewing on every day until 8 pm so that your kids don't have to watch war stuff if you don't want them to.

Now, that's the best thing I've heard yet! I usually like to go to Tracy's folks' for lunch and dinner on Sundays, but I didn't want to go yesterday because I knew they'd have CNN on blaring through the house. I can see all I need and be updated in 10-15 minutes. That's all I can handle.
