parental interferance/sideline coaching has gotten so bad in our league that we have what is termed Silent Sunday. altho it is a token day per season, if one parent opens his or her YAP from the sideline, they are banned for the day. escorted to their car where they can scream from within with the windows up.
i hate silent sunday. it me as a parent. plus, i can't scream LOSAH at those 10 yo goofs who wiff the ball and then there's the occasional handball--DOUBLE LOSAH.

Why those of you with 4 and 5 year olds don't already have them in camps is beyond me. Sports aren't fun, quit trying to make it something it's not. Some people are so unAmerican.

Has anyone seen that show "Showbiz Moms & Dads" on Bravo? Its all about acting rather than sports but its the same little league 'live through your kids' mentality. Very disturbing.

What would be the worst:
- Dads* who push their kids in athletics?
- Parents who push their kids in acting/music/the arts?
- Moms* who push their daughters in beauty pagents?
Or are they six of one, half a dozen of the other?

that "Showbiz" program is proof that it isn't just the moms pushing the daughters into pageants, and it's probably the same with moms and sports.

any and all of the above.
I hate this.
Let them be kids.
If they want to play, or do something, or whatever, let them. But don't go insane the first time they show interest in something.

Our kids, asked us if they could sign up for little league. We both encouraged them to do there best at all times, and we are not putting any pressure on them. I like the fact that at the levels the kids are playing at now, no scores are kept, and every kid gets to play.
I believe that is a lot of good lessons to be learned by participating in teams sports, but most importantly its about having fun.

What about yelling at the coach too? He needs to realize that she's the next female Pelé. |
Every time Jason messes up I pull him to the sideline, give him a little head butt, I throw a chair on the field and make him sit for the rest of the quarter.
On a serious note,
So far in the 2 seasons I have coached I have had great parents. They all cheer the kids on and I actually get the parent's laughing at practice as I work with the kids. Maybe that will change as they get older but at least for now I don't mind it.
