What a kick @$$ job. You finished El. How you found the fortituded to keep on going I will never know. Congratulations and now find yourself a little easier one to do to rebuild your confidence! That sounds like a rough first TRI with all the dis-organization etc.

In a word, wow. In more words: Way to go Kid. The all around conditions and transitions sounded much less than ideal (to put it mildly ) even in the plans (worse in action as it turned out ) and considering that, and the many times I definitely would have just bagged it all, and considering what I know you are able to do and how you've trained, a most excellent performance, truly. Well done and serious congratulations, Tri-athlete!
ps, I love the hair, esp the color!

I highlighted this one for a reason. With all the cr@p that went wrong you had/have a great sense of humor about it.
I loved reading this and loved the drama in it, hell not even a SOAP could add more drama.
Sorry on the swim, i know that this is the part that has kept me from doing one as well. maybe now i know other backstroke it too i'll think about it. BUT the fortitude you had to not give up, to deal with the ineptidue of the organizers and Route 30?? OMG i know that area too well, best not to stop is right.

Interestingly enough, out of 80 participants 25 were pulled from the water, and 46 overall DNF'd either by pull or by missing the time cutoff. That was part of the allure of this event; that a DNF in the swim didn't prevent you from continuing. I also came in third to last, better than I thought. Still hurts.
