And some of ya'll think this 'man' would have been a good President?

JOHN KERRY: I don't agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is, you've got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment; you've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis, and there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children,
you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that. And after all of these two and a half years, with all -- |
Got to make a folks fighting over in Iraq feel real good knowing a US Senator thinks they're terrorists
I think I need to put up a Jihadi's for Kerry web site

I heard this clip a few days ago....and absolutely couldn't believe it! My first thought was that he's trying to dumb down (seems to have worked for others) for America. You missed half the clip, the rest went like this "ahhhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh you got to ahhhhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh".
Reminded me of 9th grade civics class. I had a hard time learning because most of us had a contest of counting ahs.

I don't see what the problem is with Kerry's statement. Iraqi soldiers should be the ones leading the charge and breaking into Iraqi houses, not U.S. soldiers. If anything U.S. soldiers should only be entering Iraqi houses after Iraqi soldiers.
How do you ever expect Iraqi soldiers to learn how to fight and conduct night time operations if U.S. soldiers do it for them?
Let the Iraqi soldiers terrorize their own people instead of U.S. soldiers furnishing more political ammunition for the insurgents.
And at no time does Kerry call U.S. soldiers terrorists. He says they should not be terrorizing women and children by their breakins. That is a far cry from calling U.S. soldiers terrorists. But it's a nice spin for Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz and Republican wingnuts in general.

GRR.. did you read how the sentence that WTR highlighted reads?
| Quote: | | there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, |
Noun = American soldiers
verb = terrorizing
If that doesn't equal calling American soldiers terrorists, I can't imagine how else he'd say it than with a noun and a verb. Kerry said it plain and simple. It's not a "far cry" from it. noun, verb..period. |
If your wife and children were at home one night and someone broke into the house, wouldn't you think they would be terrorized? Do you think that qualifies the intruder as a terrorist? What if it was a deer that broke through a glass door? They would be terrorized... is the deer a terrorist?
I think it's a poor choice of words, but I agree with GRR.

Poor choice of words from a US Senator? Or a politican trying to "score points"?
You are being too kind and/or naive Mech.

I don't believe I am... BUT...
I'll take being kind and naive over hatred and accusations.

It's not a poor choice of words. It's exactly what the defeated Senator wanted to say. And the imagery he wanted to protray. He is equating the men and women of our armed forces on the ground in Iraq trying to instill freedom and democracy on the same level as the evil souls that flew airplanes into the World Trade Centers. Saying the troops of USA in their mission is the same as Osama Bin Laden isn't poor verbage, it's intentional, unpatriotic and destructive. Senator Kerry is intentional in what he says, don't let him fool ya.
