Seems like a lack of maintance to me.

(CNSNews.com) - In a blog on the Planned Parenthood Federation of America website, Interim President Karen Pearl describes the crumbling marble facade of the Supreme Court building as symbolic of the "crumbling" of Roe v. Wade and reproductive rights. A chunk of marble fell from the pediment of the Supreme Court building on Monday, shortly after tourists entered the building. No one was hurt. But, wrote Pearl, in the three decades since the Supreme Court ruled that women have the constitutional right to choose abortion, "the rights and protections of Roe have been chipped away. And make no mistake, when these constitutional protections crumble and come crashing down, women will be harmed." Planned Parenthood is challenging a New Hampshire parental notification law before the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Funny.
At my son's school, the students can leave for whatever medical care they choose, without parental consent or knowledge--and it's excused.
Yet, I can't take my son out of school for a religious event or a family event and have it excused.

Tell 'em it's preventative - if he misses the family event he'll be killed!

People don't seem too interested in discussing that, do they?

I don't mind talking about it. I was sickened and disgusted by that.
Neither side has the lock on honesty--the old adage of power corrupting is too true. Wrong is wrong no matter who does it.
But, I think that's a different thread altogether.

yes, in "most" households, I'd agree. Unfortunately, I think in some minor's cases, notifying the parents is a waste of paper and think of the time and energy of the practioner "trying" to notify parents. Should a runaway be denied a medical procedure??? I gotta go with the liberals on this one. If your family is structured the way you want, your teenager would consult with you, some teenagers don't have this luxury, obviously a runaway girl would not.

my kid needs permission to ride a school bus on a field trip. I am in the camp of notification.
I understand through my medical contacts that being pregnant in it of itself is "emancipating" thus the girl is considered an adult, therefore no notification must be made. I have have no legal resource on that , that is what I understand.
Intersting if there is a complication during the procedure and the young lady must be admitted then the parents/guardian at least has to give verbal consent.
It is also not hard to get court orders. Judges are on call all the time. We get court orders signed at all hours of the day.
the instances where life/death come up are so rare, that it is almost a moot argument. In those cases, do what has to be done I say, other wise I think the parent/guardian should be notified.

I'd rather they notify a psychologist rather than a parent, maybe it's the liberalism in me, but I think if a minor commits adult acts then they be treated as one. If a counselor is assigned to the case (and I think in abortions counselling should be mandatory whether is a minor or adult), they can help the minor decide whether notifying parents is beneficial (and I would guess in most cases it is) and get the minor's consent. If I were 16 and wanted to abort and my mom was the town gossip or a loose-lipped drunk......I wouldn't want her notified and yes, I know that these situations are slim, but they exist.
