Mrs. and I are soon to be in the market for a couple of new pieces for the bedroom. We've found a couple of pieces at Havertys that we really like. The mule chest (dresser) with mirror pictured below and then the matching armoire and possibly sweater chest.
The price tag is a little shocking though. Any good places to get cheaper, quality furniture? I'm not looking for cheap furniture. I'm hoping this set will last me until I assume room temperature.

I have no opinion on furniture, except that I use it, if it's around.

...i like furniture. i don't think i have any kind of helpful opinion on it...
i think i'm supposed to ask if it matches your bed or not... and then the wallpaper/paint/colors of the room... matching is important.

You won't get "good" furniture without paying for it. We got a new bedroom set last year and spent waaaaay more than I ever thought I would on furniture. But it's worth it. It will definately last until we're worm food.

I've always heard buy it in NC and ship it. The shipping costs is still less than the markup and the quality comes from the Carolinas.

Tons of furniture outlets owned by the factories around the Hickory/Thomasville/Winston-Salem/High Point areas. I think most will ship, but if you can swing a weekend trip with a truck, you'll save some serious jack.

Craigslist is about the only way to get good quality furniture for cheap. You'll be buying used but sometimes it is worth it. Unfortunately you'll have to search for a long time to find what you want. Otherwise you better just start saving those pennies.

I liked Ashleys, but be careful of veniers. I mispelled that I think. Either way great furniture but it may be a little cheaper than what you want. Havertys is awesome.
