Here's a web site to get off the lists. You can opt out for five years or permanently. With luck, your credit card offers are reduced:
www.optoutprescreen.com
I just permanently opted out for my whole family.

Is it real? If I give them my info, how do I know they aren't using it? The web site names the credit companies, but I see nothing that contects them to anything legit.

Got this info in a consumer awareness article from my insurance company USAA. The site is a secure site (Little padlock icon on the bottom).

I can make my web site secure too. All I have to do is change the properties and add a security feature.
Do you have a link to the insurance company? I get no less than 5 applications a day. My dog got one. My mother, who is dead, still gets them. I would really like to stop them.
My biggest concern is that I won't shred one well enough and some idiat will send it in with a change of addy. The'll get the card and I'll get stuck with the bill that I will never get until I try to get credit.
It should be illegal for them to send out my info, or even have it for that matter.
