Like all coaches, mine is nagging all the time about correct breathing. I cant seem to understand what is this breathing importance all about anyway? We inhale, exhale the air. When we run or swim we breathe heavier. What else could be so important? After all we are doing it without thinking. Is there any connection between learning front crawl and breathing?

You will never be able to reach your full potential unless you learn to breathe properly. Breathing is the major oxygen supply system and as you know, we all depend on oxygen for many processes in our body. Without oxidation there would be no energy production and we would die. So, you can imagine what kind of importance can have ample supply of oxygen to the hard working muscles and small furnaces inside every cell. Proper breathing can delay lactic acid buildup for a significant time giving you more chances to finish the race or simply swimming faster and longer than others. So if you want to swim front crawl like a pro you have to learn how to breathe
