An enormous amount of damage can be done in four years. I'm feeling very pessimistic about the ability of grassroots to achieve much in the next 4.

The only bright side is that it guarantees that, in my next career, I'll always have work.

I'd be willing to bet that regardless who's in, you'd have plenty of work. Your field always seems to be busy!
