Posted: 04/27/05 - 12:44 Post subject: Last meet of the season results
Well we had our regional meet tuesday, and I'm rather disapointed. I ran the 1600 in 4:50, which is 5 seconds slower than I ran last week. It was a hard race after the 1st lap I didn't have anything left. I got 4th which makes me an alternate for the state meet. But in the 3200 I came out like 6th with an 11:07. that is 30 seconds slower than last week . I'm not sure why I was so slow by my theory is that I peaked earlier in the season. (I ran my fastest times about 4-5 weeks ago.) Anyway I'm ready to start on some cross-training and then build up my base over the summer. But my coach wants me to keep tapering and dooing speed work for the state meet thats about 1.5 weeks away. I'm not too exited about this because if I did peak 5 weeks ago than my times would be REALLY slow for the state meet. I just want Track to be over, and start getting some miles in.

I disagree...
With 1.5 weeks left until the meet, you still have plenty of time to rest the legs and let them recover. Eat foods rich in BCAA's and keep your fluid level topped off. You will see the times come back down.
Some of the results are end of season poopy, but some can be contibuted to just plain tired legs. They have had a hard season and now they need some rest.
Rest up and go in with a new/good frame of mind and you will see the numbers you want.
Good luck

Yeah, I'm still training for state. I just got some new shoes (Asics 2100) and i'm exited about putting some miles on them this summer, seeing what there made of . It's very unlikely that ill get to run at state but I'll be prepared if I do, thanks for the support guys.
