So what's the biggest race in terms of number of people you have ever ran in? I will be running in what is probably the largest 10k road race in Canada (and probably the second largest 10k in North America..the first is the Peachtree road race in Atlanta I think...) this Sunday for the first time. Check out the website: http://www.canada.com/vancouver/specials/sunrun/index.html

There's supposed to be about 50,000 participants in this event and it's organized in wave starts depending on what your projected finish time will be.. And I thought 2000 for the February half marathon was already alot...I can't imagine 25x that number Shocked

I'm a new runner..I think I ran the Turkey Trot 2003 in Cleveland with about 4000 other people..that was alot for this solitary runner.

Smallest...I ran my second 5K with 27 other people.

Largest was probably Cajun Cup, with roughly 800. There's really only 1 huge race in Louisiana, and that's Crescent City Classic 10k... last weekend. It usually gets about 10,000 people.

Smallest race... 15? Some LSU sponsored race during semester break.

I'll do the Turkey Trot 2004 with ya, Kimba. If you're gonna do it.

I've just run 5ks, and the biggest one was probably the one I did with Pebbles (or rather the one she said goodbye to me at the starting line of, and that was the last I saw of her! LOL ), the PA Montour Trail run, there were about, I dunno, 1200?

2003 Run to Feed the Hungry 5K - 15,000+ entrants. Total chaos. Shocked

Not sure if I want to do it this year - it wasn't possible to do anything more than shuffle for the first 1/2 mile.

Just enjoy the ride. You won't be setting any PR's with a crowd that big. Smile

Good luck!

Largest - Beach To Beacon (ME) - about 4270.

Smallest - Hatten Park Runs (WI) - exactly 46.

Both of those were last year.

I've run the LA Marathon three times. 23,000 entries but only around 17,000 finishers. I finished 95th the first time, 9441st the second, and was running 20th after being as high as 16th when I dropped out last time at 19 miles.

I ran a race once where I was the only entrant.

Shamrock Shuffle or Disney Marathon. Shamrock felt way bigger as I started about 20-30 rows back and Disney I was on the frontline. Plus marathons is not a big deal with a large amount of people. Shamrock was a 5 mile and by mile 1....to see hundreds, maybe thousands in front of me it is overwhelming, as well as humbling Mr. Green

Craig--do you like the large or small races....seeing that you've done extremes? Most people I know that are awesome runners thrive on big. I wilt. Neutral I'm sure it's the confidence factor

Sounds good to me! Are you a Buckeye, or just in town for Turkey Day? This year it's a Michelob Ultra sponsored event,so free beer at the finish line!

Running 5 miles is a good way to earn that Turkey Dinner.

I live in Northeast Ohio, about 45 minutes South of Cleveland. You?

I say we make a date of it, and do it! It would be fun to run with another RR'er again! Very Happy

I used to be an NEO'er; I grew up in Medina County. Now I live in east central Ohio, outside of Newcomerstown. Peoli is the small defunct village much closer to me than spelling Newcomerstown every time..besides, it's where Cy Young was from!
I'm in NEO quite a bit. I was up there yesterday running errands and attending a wine tasting event. I'm running the 10K race this weekend in Cleveland.
My next event after this is probaly the "Historic Zoar Hotel 5 Miler" at the end of May, unless something else comes along.
I just signed up for my first marathon, the Akron RoadRunner, for this fall.
